SPMSA Pitching Clinics

 

Advanced Pitching Clinic

Designed for  “A” or "B" level pitchers U13 or older, looking to improve their mechanics also looking to increase their velocity while continuing to master or develop additional pitches. 

Instructed by former NCAA pitcher Mackenzie Bender (Simon Fraser University).  Mackenzie has played in multiple national championships either with her team or as a pick up and received a national bronze medal as a U21 player. Her softball career continued into post-secondary where she played for Simon Fraser University competing in division 2 NCAA, GNAC Conference, and helped her team make it to the conference finals in her rookie season as a relief pitcher. After 2.5 years at Simon Fraser a major concussion brought her back to Edmonton where she finished her Kinesiology Degree at the University of Alberta.

Every Tuesday -  Starting January 16/24

Limited to 10 athletes, 5 in each time slot

2 Time slots   6:30 - 7:45 p.m / 7:45 - 9:00 p.m.

1 hour 15 min sessions

Beginner and Intermediate Pitching

Want to try pitching!!!  

This clinic is perfect for New Pitchers, House League and Select Division pitchers, no experience is necessary! 

This pitching clinic is for both new and for intermediate pitchers! Come learn to pitch or set some goals to improve your pitching to be ready for the 2024 season!

This session will be coached by Kate Talaga. Kate played her entire minor career with Sherwood Park Softball. Kate attended Nationals in both U14A, U16A and U19A. She was also selected to Team Alberta and participated in an exchange with a Team from Japan. Kate has been offering beginning and intermediate pitching lessons for the past number of seasons both for Sherwood Park and other associations. Kate loves to work with new pitchers and offers a calm and reassuring presence as players take on this new and difficult skill.

7:40 - 8:40 PM (U13, U15, U17)

*Note: experienced U11 pitchers may register for the 7:40-8:40 session

Hitting Clinic   SPOTS FILLED 

Instructor Kelsey Lalor 

Kelsey grew up playing AAA Baseball in Alberta before making the switch to softball. She played college softball at Boise State University and was named a member of the All-Mountain West first team as a senior. After her college career, she played with Team Canada in 2022. She competed at the World Games in Alabama and the Pan American Qualifier in Guatemala. She also competed for the Canadian Women's National Baseball Team from 2013-2019. She played in 3 World Championships and the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto

Development Camp

SUNDAY FUNDAY

Camp Details: The Development Camps will cover many skill sessions including throwing, catching, hitting, infield, outfield, base running, conditioning, and overall game fundamentals. These camps will provide athletes with the opportunity to learn, practice and improve overall softball skills, the STORM WAY!!!

Players will be put in groups.

Catchers Clinic : 

The catching clinic sessions will focus on catching "technical" drills, positioning, blocking drills, pop up drills, throwing drills, game play and basic fundamentals

All catchers will be required to bring thick hockey socks to cover their knee/shin pads. Some catcher gear will be provided.

 

6 sessions - $120.00

Group 1 - 7:00- 8:00 p.m. 

Group  2 - 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
