SPMSA will be providing a competition structure for the various stages of an athlete's development by aligning with the Softball Alberta designated age categories. Through this common approach of developing physical abilities through community sport programs, SPMSA has implemented the following policy:
Players must remain in their designated age/division as established by Softball Alberta and determined by their birth year, with the exception of second-year U8 players, who may move to U10 depending on playing experience.
Other exceptional cases will be reviewed by the SPMSA Executive
U10 Team Formation and League Play
Teams and league designation will be decided the following way:
The goal is to have 4 or more teams to form a local Grassroots league, with all games in Sherwood Park. In addition to these teams, based on parent feedback, there will also be one additional team playing in the Edmonton Youth Softball Association. If 44 or more players are registered at the deadline, this will be the format.
If less than 44 players are registered, then 3 teams will be formed (one A, one or two B) and all teams will play in the Edmonton Youth Softball Association. Please note approximately half of the games will be played in Sherwood Park, with the remainder being mostly in Northeast Edmonton.
