U11 Division Info

U11

The U11 Division will now incorporate practice/skill development sessions on the designated home games. The U11 Division will have weekly games in the GEMSA League.

Also available for the U11 Division is the Pitching Clinic beginning in February and the SPMSA U11 Skills Clinic in Feb, March and April (additional fees apply). As well, SPMSA hosts a development camp starting in February for those interested in getting a jump on the season.

U11 Team Formation and League Play

Teams and league designation will be decided the following way:

All teams will participate in GEMSA in the appropriate division.  Games will be played in Edmonton and surrounding areas, including Sherwood Park.

SPMSA U11 Pre Competitive Team

Sherwood Park Minor Softball will continue to be supporting Pre Competitive U11 team(s) this season.  All players interested in playing softball at a more competitive level starting in U13 are encouraged to express interest in being part of a pre-comp team. This team(s) will compete in the Greater Edmonton Minor Softball Association (GEMSA) and will also compete in tournaments, with the goal to compete in Provincials at the A level. The number and make up of the Pre Comp teams will be determined by player/parent interest. All players not interested in a Pre Comp option will be placed on a Community team.  Please look for more information regarding evaluations and additional parent information in the new year.

Camps and Clinics are open to all U11 players.

Player Transfers

SPMSA will not accept outbound player transfer requests prior to March 1st (subject to team formation at the applicable level). SPMSA reserves the right to wait until the current year's registration is closed then verify the number of teams and to conduct evaluations to determine the caliber of the team and the division they will play in. Player transfers received on or after March 1st of the current registration year and for the upcoming softball season will be evaluated based on Section E.5(d) of the Softball Alberta Handbook and a decision will be made within 7 calendar days.
