FOR GIRLS AND BOYS
Sherwood Park Minor Softball has introduced the Parmalat Learn To Play Program for the U11 Age Division. The development of young softball players that are 8 to 10 years of age require the opportunity to practice skills necessary to successfully take part in the game of softball. The LTP program allows children of all skill levels to achieve the same number of skill repetitions. The practices also offer a high success rate for every child, which improves every player's self-confidence and love of the game.
The U11 Division will now incorporate practice/skill development sessions on the designated home games. The U11 Division will have weekly games in the GEMSA League.
Also available for the U11 Division is the Pitching Clinic beginning in February and the SPMSA U10 Skills Clinic in March and April (additional fees apply).
U11 Team Formation and League Play
Teams and league designation will be decided the following way:
All teams will participate in GEMSA in the appropriate division. Games will be played in Edmonton and surrounding areas, including Sherwood Park.
SPMSA U11 Pre Competitive Team
Sherwood Park Minor Softball will continue to be supporting Pre Competitive U11 team(s) this season. All players interested in playing softball at a more competitive level starting in U13 are encouraged to express interest in being part of a Prep team. This team(s) will compete in the Greater Edmonton Minor Softball Association (GEMSA) and will also compete in tournaments, with the goal to compete in Provincials at the A level. The number and make up of the Pre Comp teams will be determined by player/parent interest. All players not interested in a Pre Comp option will be placed on a Community team. Please look for more information regarding evaluations and additional parent information in the new year. Camps and Clinics are open to all U11 players.
SPMSA will not accept outbound player transfer requests prior to April 15 of the and for the current registration year and softball season. SPMSA reserves the right to wait until the current year's registration is closed then verify the number of teams and to conduct evaluations to determine the caliber of the team and the division they will play in. Player transfers received on or after April 15 of the current registration year and for the upcoming softball season will be evaluated based on Section E.5(d) of the Softball Alberta Handbook and a decision will be made within 7 calendar days.
Tournaments are determined by each individual team and its coaches as to which tournaments to enter and how many.
