U13 Division 
  

The U13 Division will be playing in the Greater Edmonton Minor Softball Association (GEMSA) for the upcoming season.  See more information below.  Also available for the U13 Division is the Pitching Clinic beginning in February.  

 

Division Details

 

  • Playing Days: Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Program Times:  6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (or end of the game)
  • Program Structure: Games and practice/skill development sessions
  • Softball Field Location: Playing location available on the team schedule
  • First session will include a parent meeting. Parents are an active part of the SPMSA program delivery
  • Each child will be issued a jersey for the season.  Uniform Pick-up and Return dates for each team will be posted on the website (coaches will also provide information prior to the season).
  • Required equipment: ball glove, running shoes or softball cleats (no metal cleats),  batting helmet (with face mask/chin strap), ball pants

Player Transfers

SPMSA will not accept outbound player transfer requests prior to March 1st (subject to team formation at the applicable levels). SPMSA reserves the right to wait until the current year's registration is closed then verify the number of teams and to conduct evaluations to determine the caliber of the team and the division they will play in. Player transfers received on or after March 1st of the current registration year and for the upcoming softball season will be evaluated based on Section E.5(d) of the Softball Alberta Handbook and a decision will be made within 7 calendar days.

Rep (Competitive) Teams

Sherwood Park Softball Association is a community-based softball association.  We offer a community team (B team) and in addition, we will be providing an opportunity for girls to play at a more competitive level (A Rep team). The Sherwood Park Softball U13A team plays in the GEMSA league, the GPLS league which plays in four tournaments throughout  May and June, there are weekly or bi-weekly practices to be determined by the coaches, additional tournaments and Provincial Championships in early July with the possibility of Western in early August. Players and parents need to commit to attending these additional practices and be available to play in the month of July and possibly August.  Please see the home page for Evaluation times and locations.

Sherwood Park B teams also play in the GEMSA league and additional practices and tournaments/Provincials are at the discretion of the parents/coaches.
