Coaching Requirements
All coaches must register in Ramp
Criminal Record: SPMSA requires that all coaches get a criminal record check. Criminal records can be uploaded into Ramp or sent to the Division Rep or General Manager. You can scan it and send it via email or take a picture of it.
Safe Sport: All SPMSA coaches have to have NCCP Safe Sport - Direct Athlete Contact or Respect in Sport - Activity Leader. After the course is complete please upload it into Ramp.
U11-U19 - Teams NOT entering Provincials - Coaches Requirements
SPMSA highly recommends that coaches take Foundations of Coaching Softball - Part 1 - This is a great course for new coaches U11 and up.
U11 Teams - Entering to Provincials
Registered coach on record must have Foundations of Coaching Softball Part 1 and the Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation complete on their NCCP transcript.
U13-U19 Teams - Entering Provincials
Registered coach to be fully trained in NCCP “Community Softball”. and the Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation complete on their NCCP transcript.
U15A, U17A,U19A/ B Teams - Entering Provincials that lead to Post - Provincial Play- example: Westerns or Canadians
All coaches require Making Ethical Decisions
Registered coach to be fully Certified in NCCP “Competition Introduction”. and the Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation complete on their NCCP transcript.
Female Coach - Provincial Roster Requirement
Softball Alberta requires one coach of which must be of the same gender as the team (female) and must have completed Foundations of Coaching Softball Part 1 and the Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation.
NOTE: If a female is Head Coach on record she will need the above requirements as listed as Head Coach on record.
Assistant Coaches - Entering Provincials
SPMSA highly recommends that assistant coaches have Foundations of Coaching Softball Part 1 and Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation complete on their NCCP transcript.
